Fairfield Arts Society Art prize for Photography

Very excited to announce I won the Fairfield Arts Society art prize for photography with my Nankeen Kestrel. I must admit I was quite surprised when I got the call. It is all very exciting. My Rainbow Lorikeet is received a Highly Commended too.

I adore what the Judges commented on my piece…it’s been such a lovely end of the year, so far. I really do enjoy receiving such feedback and support, it makes it all feel so ‘real’. Makes it all worthwhile, somehow.

Perfectly positioned and beautifully framed in soft pastel hues and delicious texture, this portrait offers a distinctively painterly and deliciously elegant interpretation of the chosen subject. Every detail from edge to edge feels skilfully and thoughtfully crafted and the raptor is presented to us with a beautifully subtle but compelling sense of dimensionality.
— Judge's Comment:

I know shows and competition can be all very subjective, and sometimes you do wonder why you subject yourself to the criticism and such. It can be a real downer when you put so much time and effort into what you do. But then there are times it can make your heart sing for joy…I LIKE those ones!
