Ophelia's Dream

Ophelia's Dream

Ophelia, Reimagined

Fog, flowers, a kiddie pool and one warm summer day

Every now and then a shoot comes together not because it’s perfectly planned, but because it’s playful, curious, and a little bit ridiculous in the best way.

This one started with Ophelia, a blow-up kiddie pool, a warm summer afternoon, and the wonderfully dramatic Skye Medusa. Add water, flowers, smoke, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.

From Shakespeare to suburbia

Ophelia is usually imagined drifting through dark, poetic waters. We kept the feeling, but swapped the riverbank for a backyard setup. A shallow pool, leafy greens, floating flowers, and sunlight doing most of the heavy lifting. Sometimes the least glamorous gear creates the most honest magic.

Skye absolutely owned this concept. There’s a softness to these images, but also strength. Stillness, but intention. She moved slowly, deliberately, letting the water and fabric do their thing while staying completely present in the frame.

Smoke, water, and a bit of theatre

The Telesin Mini Fogger was the quiet hero here. Used sparingly, it added just enough atmosphere to lift the scene from “nice portrait” into something more painterly. Fog drifting across water behaves unpredictably, which I love. You don’t control it, you respond to it.

That unpredictability is where creativity wakes up.

Why I love shoots like this

This wasn’t about perfection. It was about curiosity. About asking “what if?” and being okay if the answer was a little messy. Fine art work doesn’t need a massive budget or a studio full of gear. It needs intention, trust, and the willingness to try something that might not work.

And honestly, a model who’s happy to lie in cold water on a hot day helps too.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, take this as permission to simplify. Grab a prop you already own. Reinterpret a classic. Play with light, water, fog, fabric. Let the idea lead and see where it takes you.
