Let’s Dance

Some photoshoots are about posing.
This one was about connection.

Let’s Dance with Skye (@skymedusa) and Nick (@wallet_au) was a cinematic exploration of movement, tension, emotion, and trust, inspired by the dramatic language of Tango and contemporary dance portraiture. Rather than focusing on fast action or perfectly choreographed routines, this session leaned into the quieter moments in between, the glance, the reach, the pause before movement begins.

Working with dancers changes everything. Their awareness of body language and connection brings an entirely different energy to a portrait session. Every movement feels intentional, every pose carries emotion, and even stillness tells part of the story.

Using carefully shaped light, shadow, and direction, we created a series of images that feel less like traditional dance photography and more like cinematic moments frozen in time. Rich reds, dramatic contrast, flowing fabric, and expressive movement all came together to create a gallery full of mood and atmosphere.

These sessions are also a reminder that movement in photography doesn’t always need to be literal. Sometimes the strongest images simply imply motion through gesture, connection, and direction.

This gallery features the incredible Skye and Nick, whose chemistry and performance elevated every frame.

Behind the Scenes

This shoot also became the inspiration behind my upcoming Crimson Tango cinematic portrait workshop, focusing on directing couples, creating connection, shaping light, and capturing movement with intention.

Because great portraits aren’t just about how people look.
They’re about how they feel.
