K&F CONCEPT “Central Hexagonal” Kaleidoscope Filter

Adding a Little Magic to the Frame

Every now and then, a product lands on my desk that sparks pure creative curiosity — and the K&F CONCEPT Hexagonal Creative Filter is one of those playful little tools that instantly makes you want to experiment.

Note: While K&F CONCEPT sent this product out for review, all thoughts are my own

Unlike the usual CPLs and NDs that quietly refine your image, this one shouts “let’s have some fun!” It’s designed with a central hexagonal prism that refracts light into dreamy duplicates and kaleidoscopic patterns — perfect for creative portraits, conceptual still life, and anything where you want to add a touch of visual magic.

The build quality is solid, with smooth threads and clear optical glass that feels premium for the price. It doesn’t add unwanted colour casts, though it does add a lot of visual distortion — but that’s exactly the point. It’s not meant to be subtle. When light hits it just right, you’ll get a gorgeous symmetrical repeat that can make even a simple portrait look cinematic or surreal.

In my tests, it worked beautifully under controlled lighting — studio strobes, continuous LEDs, or even bright natural light. I found it less forgiving in dim light or on lenses with slower apertures, where autofocus tends to hunt a little. But on a fast prime with good backlight or sparkly props? It’s a dream.

It’s definitely not an everyday filter — but it’s one you’ll reach for when you’re ready to play. Whether you’re shooting creative portraits, fashion, or an artistic still life setup, the K&F CONCEPT Hexagonal Filter adds instant wow-factor.
