How I Create Scroll-Stopping Portrait Reels Using FlexClip
As a portrait photographer, I spend hours crafting creative, emotive images that tell a story — but when it comes to sharing them on social media, it’s not always easy to stop people from scrolling past.
We live in a world where attention spans are short, and Reels dominate the feed. Over time, I’ve discovered that showing behind-the-scenes moments, before-and-after edits, and even creative stories of my portraits in a Reel format gets far more engagement than just posting the final still image.
And for that, I use FlexClip.
This isn’t a sales pitch — it’s simply the tool that fits seamlessly into my workflow. Here’s how I use it to turn my portrait shoots into engaging Reels that stop the scroll.
Why Turn Portraits Into Reels?
Because people love stories.
One photo might get likes, but when you take your audience on a journey — from concept to creation, or show little details they’d never see otherwise — it draws them in. Reels give your images life and context.
My Process for Creating Reels with FlexClip
1️⃣ Behind the Scenes
I always grab a few seconds of video while shooting. These little clips — styling the model, adjusting lights, adding creative props — give viewers a glimpse of the artistry behind the portrait.
In FlexClip, I can quickly stitch these together with the final photo at the end, add a trending audio track, and overlay some text to tell the story.
2️⃣ Before & After
Clients and followers love seeing the transformation — from a blank backdrop to a fully styled, edited image.
I drop the RAW shot and the final edit into FlexClip, add a swipe transition, and sometimes animate the text: “Before” and “After.” Short, simple, effective.
3️⃣ Showcasing Details
Some of my shoots have beautiful accessories, makeup, or lighting effects that deserve their own spotlight.
I zoom in on those details in the video, add slow-motion or subtle zoom effects in FlexClip, and pair it with music. These often perform really well because people notice things they’d otherwise miss.
4️⃣ Branded Outro
At the end of most of my Reels, I include my logo and website URL. FlexClip makes it easy to save this as a reusable branded outro I can drop into any video.
Why FlexClip Works for Me
I love that it’s browser-based and quick — I don’t have hours to learn complex software or export giant files. It has the tools I need: easy trimming, text overlays, transitions, stock audio, and templates I can customize to fit my brand.
It’s not about making a perfect commercial — it’s about showing your personality and giving your portraits more context and emotion.
Next time you share your work, think about turning it into a little story your audience can watch — you’ll be amazed at how much more engagement it gets.
