K&F CONCEPT Magnetic Filter Kit (CPL + ND8 + ND64 + Magnetic Adapter Ring)

K&F CONCEPT Magnetic Filter Kit (CPL + ND8 + ND64 + Magnetic Adapter Ring)

Have you been thinking about adding a CPL or ND filter to your kit? Why not check out the K&F Concept Magnetic Filter Kit? I took it on a recent trip, and it was a fabulous addition; fast magnetic swaps, rich colours, glare control, and dreamy long exposures. Read the full review for my real-world results.

What do these filters do?

  • CPL filters help remove unwanted reflections, make skies look richer, and colours more vivid.

  • ND filters act like sunglasses for your camera, reducing the amount of light that hits the sensor so you can use slower shutter speeds or wider apertures — great for long exposures, motion blur effects, or shooting in overly bright conditions.

Note: While K&F CONCEPT kindly sent me these filters for review, all thoughts and opinions here are entirely my own.

K&F CONCEPT Magnetic Filter Kit - Technical Specs & Kit Contents

  • Included Filters:

    • CPL (Circular Polarizer): Cuts glare, enhances contrast, and deepens skies.

    • ND8 (3 stops): Great for moderate light, smoothing motion in waterfalls and streams.

    • ND64 (6 stops): Perfect for bright sunny conditions, allowing slower shutter speeds or wider apertures.

  • Magnetic Adapter Ring System: Snaps on in under a second for hassle-free filter swaps.

  • Glass & Coatings: Made from AGC optical glass with 28-layer multi-resistant coating (waterproof, oil-resistant, anti-scratch, and dustproof).

Real-World Use

I went with the 72 mm version, but while shooting with a wide-angle lens that had a 67 mm thread, I used a 67–72 mm step-up ring. It worked well, but at the widest focal lengths, I noticed some vignette creeping into the corners. On my usual 72 mm wide-angle, it fits perfectly and avoids that issue.

The included adapter ring itself is quite thin, and I found it a little tricky to screw on and off — especially with stiff fingers or in cold weather. Once fitted, though, the magnetic system works beautifully and saves so much time in the field.

This kit really shines in real-world shooting situations. It’s fantastic for high-contrast black & white photography, where the CPL in particular brings out striking differences between highlights and shadows. On bright sunny days, near or around water, the filters help tame reflections and prevent blown highlights. At the beach, the ND filters allowed me to experiment with long exposures, creating silky and smoky water effects, and I can already see how useful they’ll be for waterfalls and rivers. I ended up stacking the CPL and both ND filters for some great long exposures, or you can use them individually.

The CPL also worked wonders in colour photography: it made my blue skies deeper, green grass richer, and added punch to cloudy skies, pulling out contrast that made images look far more dynamic. Whether I was shooting landscapes, seascapes, or even urban scenes with glass and reflective surfaces, the filters performed consistently well.

Another handy trick is that you can stack the ND filters magnetically (e.g., ND8 + ND64 for 9 stops, or add the CPL for even more light reduction). This helps overcome the limited ND strength compared to an ND1000. The trade-off is that stacking increases the risk of vignetting, particularly on wide-angle lenses, but it’s still a practical workaround in many situations. They are great for beautiful high constrast B&W images too.

Pros

  • Ultra-fast swaps: Filters snap on/off magnetically in under a second.

  • Quality optics: Sharp images with minimal colour cast, even when stacking.

  • Durable coatings: Water-, oil-, and scratch-resistant — reliable outdoors.

  • Stacking flexibility: CPL + ND combos or doubled NDs extend the kit’s versatility.

  • Compact & travel-friendly: Lightweight, no fiddly threading once the adapter is on.

  • Excellent real-world performance: Great for B&W, bright sun, waterfalls, beaches, and dramatic skies.

  • Comes with a handy carry pouch

Cons

  • Limited ND range: Only ND8 and ND64 — stacking helps, but not as clean as a dedicated ND1000.

  • Vignetting risk: Especially on wide-angle lenses when stacking or using step-up rings.

  • Adapter ring usability: Thin profile makes it harder to grip and screw on/off with stiff fingers.

  • CPL adjustment: Not as precise as a traditional screw-on CPL.

  • Size-specific: Extra adapters or step-up rings are needed for lenses with different filter threads.

  • It is a very thin adaptor and can be fiddly to get on, I actually had a problem with my 72mm Sony Wide-angle (it’s possible it has a damaged thread), but when I used a 67-72mm step-up ring on the Tamron 16-30mm lens (67mm) it was super easy to gt on and off.

Final Verdict

The K&F Concept 72 mm magnetic filter kit is a fantastic balance of speed, quality, and portability. The magnetic swap system makes shooting faster and smoother, the coatings hold up impressively in real-world conditions, and the CPL/ND combination adds a lot of creative flexibility. From vibrant skies and contrast-rich B&W images to dreamy long-exposure water effects, the kit delivered reliable, high-quality results.

Just be aware of the quirks: the thin adapter ring can be fiddly to handle, and stacking on wide-angle lenses increases vignetting. For serious long exposures, you’ll still want to add an ND1000.

That said, the build quality really impressed me. While I don’t recommend dropping them, it’s reassuring that when I accidentally did, they came away without a scratch. The magnetic lens cap also held firm the entire time, unlike another magnetic set I tried previously, where the cover kept slipping off — and eventually got lost because it wasn’t strong enough. With this K&F kit, everything stayed secure, making it a system I’d happily keep in my bag for everyday use and travel photography alike.
