K&F CONCEPT 5-in-1 Reflector — A Must-Have Lighting Tool

K&F CONCEPT 5-in-1 Reflector — A Must-Have Lighting Tool

One of the most affordable and indispensable tools in any photographer’s kit is a good reflector, and the K&F CONCEPT 5-in-1 Reflector absolutely delivers. I’ve used a number of reflectors over the years, and this one strikes the perfect balance of quality, versatility, and ease of use.

For those who aren’t familiar, a reflector is used to bounce, diffuse, block, or shape light in your scene — essential when you’re working with natural light or even supplementing studio lighting. What I love about this one is just how much you can do with a single, portable piece of gear.

Specifications

  • Size: 100 cm x 150cm

  • Components:

    • Translucent Panel: Serves as a diffuser to soften harsh light

    • Reversible Cover: Features four surfaces—gold, silver, white, and black

  • Materials: High-quality, fade-resistant fabrics with a durable steel spring frame

  • Portability: Folds down to approximately one-third of its size and includes a zippered carrying bag

  • Handle Grips: Some models come with built-in handles for easier manoeuvrability

What you get

This is a 5-in-1 reflector, 110 cm (43”) in diameter, and it comes with a zippered carry bag. Inside, you’ve got:

  • Translucent panel (the base): acts as a diffuser, perfect for softening harsh sunlight.

  • Reversible zip-on cover with four surfaces:

    • White: for clean, neutral fill light to lift shadows.

    • Silver: for a punchy, bright, cool-toned reflection with more contrast.

    • Gold: adds a warm glow — great for mimicking late afternoon light.

    • Black: blocks or subtracts light, deepens shadows, and eliminates unwanted reflections.

The fabrics are high-quality and resistant to fading. The steel frame is sturdy but still flexible enough to fold down into the compact storage bag — which, by the way, is about one-third the reflector’s open size.

Why I like it

I find this reflector incredibly handy for both studio and outdoor shoots. The translucent panel comes out often when shooting portraits in midday sun — it takes that hard light and makes it soft and flattering. Indoors, the silver and white are my go-tos for bouncing light back into my subject’s face or adding a subtle highlight. The gold is fantastic for adding some warmth when shooting in cooler light.

It’s also quick to fold and pack away, though I admit it takes a little practice to get the twist-fold right the first few times!

My verdict

If you’re just starting out, this is one of those inexpensive, highly effective tools that you’ll use constantly. And if you’re experienced, you already know how crucial a good reflector is — this one is well-made, lightweight, and does everything you need.

It also comes in a 60cm X 90cm option, as well as a round option

I don’t think a shoot goes by where this 5-1 reflector doesn’t come out of the bag at some point — highly recommended!
